Bio-F@rm™ is our proprietary application platform that showcases our unique ability to engineer fermentation-based proteins. The platform combines Modern Meadow’s proprietary know-how regarding strain engineering, protein design, analytics, fermentation and downstream processing to produce tailored proteins with desired properties and functionality for various applications. The first expression of this platform is Bio-Coll@gen™, a powerful vegan, biocompatible, and safe bioactive which has been shown to stimulate the production of Collagen type III.
Bio-Alloy™ is our proprietary technology application platform that delivers unique performance and sustainability to materials. As a testament to our commitment to innovation, Bio-Alloy™ has allowed us to develop multiple unprecedented miscible blends with commercial applications , therefore bringing unique sets of mechanical and thermal properties to biomaterials, beauty amongst other for a vast range of end uses applications.
Mechanical data shows that our selected proteins combined with bio-based polymers create a molecularly-mixed miscible blend with unique combination of functionalities and performances far beyond each of the individual inputs. Like traditional alloys, our protein-powered solution is greater than the sum of its parts, which is why we call it Bio-Alloy™.
Using a deep understanding of molecular biology and fermentation processes, we engineer yeast strains to produce Bio-Coll@gen™. Inspired by human Collagen type III, this proprietary recombinant protein has demonstrated biostimulation of an array of genes including Collagen type III in human skin cells. Collagen types I and III are the main structural proteins found in human skin and other connective tissues. Collagen type I creates the matrix of the skin while Collagen type III modulates skin elasticity and, therefore, they have a key role in the skin aging process and skin appearance. Collagen type III proteins are notoriously difficult to extract and very costly. By growing these proteins from yeast, we bypass the conventional animal-based extraction methods and provide the cosmetics industry with a more sustainable and efficacious building block for beauty products.
